EXO-M was a subunit of the South Korean-Chinese boy group EXO. The group debuted in 2012, becoming one of the most popular K-pop groups globally. The subunit EXO-M's members were selected from the Chinese-speaking members of EXO, and they primarily aimed to promote in China and to target Chinese audiences.
The members of EXO-M were Kris Wu, Lay Zhang, Luhan, Xiumin, Chen, and Tao. Though they primarily sang in Mandarin, the group also recorded songs in Korean and English. EXO-M released their debut album "Mama" in 2012, and it was a commercial success in both China and Korea.
EXO-M had a significant impact on the Chinese music industry and helped to popularize K-pop in China. However, in 2014, Kris Wu, Luhan, and Tao left the group, causing a significant shift in the group's activities and popularity. The remaining members of EXO-M continued to promote as part of EXO until they disbanded in 2021.
